Asphalt Resurfacing & Overlays in Escondido
If the base under your asphalt is still solid, a new layer on top can give you a like-new surface for much less than tearing it all out. We'll connect you with a licensed contractor who can tell you whether yours qualifies.

When an overlay works
- The surface is worn, oxidized or has scattered cracks, but isn't sinking.
- There's little or no spider-web cracking, or the failed areas are cut out and repaired first.
- Drainage is already working and the new height won't cause problems at the garage, walkways or curb.
When it doesn't
An overlay copies whatever is underneath. If the base has failed, cracks show back through the new layer, often within a year or two. Widespread alligator cracking, soft spots and standing water usually call for removal and new base instead.
Mill and overlay
Milling grinds off the top layer of old asphalt before the new layer goes on. It keeps the finished surface at the right height next to garage slabs, curbs and gutters, and gives the new asphalt a better bond.

Commonly 1.5 to 2 inches for driveways, depending on condition and traffic. Your contractor will specify the compacted thickness in the estimate.
